Reccomended Reads

The TeenVirtue series is absolutely the best resource for teenage girls that I have found. The first one deals with the top 40 real life issues that teen girls face, such as abortion, gay marriage, tattoos, body images, guys, premarital sex, and much more. It's set up in the form of a magazine with colorful graphics and interactive quizzes that hold your attention. The author really understands teenage girls and isn't afraid to "tell it like it is." All in all, it's a really great read. Click here to order off amazon.com.

As the second book in the TeenVirtue series, it is self-described as "the teenage girl's guide to relationships." It focuses not only on relationships with guys, but also with friends, family, and God. It's set up much like the first book, with quizzes, questions, and magazine-like graphics. Click here to order.

The third and final installation in the TeenVirtue series, TeenVirtue  Confidential answers questions about the future, guys, body development, sex, and faith. It gives tips for being safe online and being cell phone mannered. All in all, it's very informative and well put. Click here to order.

P.S. You can view articles and excerpts from all three books at virtuousreality.com

His Girl is also written by Vicky Courtney and is similar to the TeenVirtue series.  It has a few different features such as devotional material and "do life better" sections (which I love). A DVD pack can also be bought separately. I couldn't find it on amazon.com, so I had to go to LifeWay, which is slightly more expensive. Click here to order.

This actually wasn't written by Vicky Courtney, but it's still really good. It's all about helping girls understand that God loves and pursues them passionately because He loves them deeply. It also helps them to recognize false loves and lies that lure them away from a devoted relationship with God. It's really helped me see myself through God's eyes and raise my self-esteem. Really a great way to begin having a positive body image and see yourself as beautiful. Again, I couldn't find this on amazon.com and have to link to LifeWay. Click here to order.

This journal is a companion to the TeenVirtue series. It has mini articles, quizzes, write yourself in scenarios, writing prompts and plenty of space to write in your thoughts. It has writing topics on the main issues discussed in the series that really get you to think and do some soul searching. Click here to order.

This isn't exactly a book, but it's an awesome CD. Their songs are mostly about girl power. Here is a link to their site and here is a link to their store. They have previews of their songs on their site so you can see if you like them or not.

Co-written by the singer Rebecca St. James, this book has many great points. With real examples of women from the Bible, it shows you how they faced many of the same struggles that girls face today. I haven't actually read it, because it doesn't really have things that apply to me, but it really looks like an excellent read. Click here to order.

Technical Virgin was written to help teen girls understand the truth about sex and "staying pure". There's no shying away from the truth in here, just the facts about how far is too far and deciding where to draw the line. I would recommend this to any girl struggling with purity and not atraying from her walk with Christ. Click here to order.
